Based in in Arusha, Agatha works as the regional adviser for the Danida Regional Economic Integration Support Programme, helping Denmark implement its programmes of support for regional integration in East Africa, which includes working closely with TradeMark East Africa and the EAC Partnership Fund.
Agatha brings over 15 years of experience in trade and economic development in East Africa. Prior to joining Saana, Agatha served as the Executive Director for the East African Business Council, the umbrella body for private sector associations and corporations in the EAC region. As the Executive Director, she led the expansion of the Council’s membership, which more than doubled in two years, and engaged with national, regional and international government and private sector leaders on key issues for businesses in the region. From 2001 to 2008, she worked as a Trade Officer with the UK High Commission in Nairobi, analysing market developments and assisting over 150 UK companies to increase exports to Kenya and make long-term direct investments.
She holds an MA in International Studies from the University of Nairobi and several qualifications in export promotion and private sector development from CBI, UK Institute of Exports, and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is fluent in English and Swahili.
